The Classroom of the Future Foundation (CFF) and the San Diego County Office of Education  (SDCOE) Innovation division present the Fifth Annual #GoOpen Online Summit LIVE on Thursday, April 2nd from 8:00am – 4:00pm. This summit is a virtual opportunity for the education and business community to learn more about Open Educational Resources (OER) and the U.S. Department of Education’s #GoOpen Initiative.

REGISTER FOR THE #GOOPEN ONLINE SUMMIT >>

OER are educational materials that can be legally and freely used, copied, adapted and shared. They can increase equity because they can be freely accessed by all students. OER are also high quality, keep content relevant, and save money compared to traditional textbooks.

This summit is provided as a service for educators who are hoping to enhance their current programs and use OER to create meaningful lessons for students. We understand that all districts and schools will need to evaluate how online resources are used with their students to ensure equity and access of the content. The #GoOpen summit is intended for district teams committed to to making a scalable transition to openly licensed educational resources, teachers, media techs, librarians, and anyone else who is interested.

At the #GoOpen Summit, attendees will:

  • Learn more about #GoOpen effort and how to implement it in their district
  • How to survive being thrust into online content delivery
  • Explore systems created to assist educators with the use of OER
  • Learn ways to support students using distance learning
  • Have the opportunity to participate and purchase units from USD (Details are being worked out and will be forthcoming)

You see can see the full schedule of online sessions here. Some sessions are designed to give educators ideas and solutions that will help them work through the uncertainties of providing learning opportunities during the current COVID 19 crisis.
