Gooru’s Paulette Donnellon and SDG&E’s Christy Ihrig Join the Classroom of the Future Foundation Board Of Directors

March 1, 2017 – San Diego, CA – The Classroom of the Future Foundation (CFF) announced this morning that Paulette Donnellon of Gooru and Christy Ihrig of San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) have joined their Board of Directors.

Since 1997, CFF has united business, community, and educational leaders to create innovative learning environments in San Diego County schools. “We are thrilled to have these two extraordinary leaders in the business and nonprofit community join our Board of Directors,” said CFF Chief Executive Officer James Wright. “The commitment, passion and experience that Paulette Donnellon and Christy Ihrig bring to our organization will play a major role in advancing career pathway opportunities for our students and connecting the business community to classrooms in San Diego County.”

Paulette Donnellon is the Director of Partnerships for Gooru, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating technology that enables educators and researchers to open source effective learning practices and content. In this role, she is responsible for developing strategic partnerships with communities around the globe. Prior to joining Gooru, Donnellon held positions with Toshiba, Okidata, American Power Conversion, and Intelligent Papers working to advance technology in education. Donnellon currently represents District 4 on the San Diego County Board of Education, and previously held an elected position on the Escondido Union School District Board of Education. In addition to her technology and volunteer background, Paulette served nine years in the U.S. Army and was deployed during Desert Storm.

Christy Ihrig is the Director of Communications at SDG&E. In this role, she is responsible for external communications strategy, executive communications, and media relations. Prior to re-joining SDG&E, Ihrig served as vice president for corporate communication at Southern Company, an energy company that serves 9 million electric and gas customers. Ihrig also held various leadership roles in several Southern Company subsidiaries. Ihrig previously worked for SDG&E and Sempra Energy, SDG&E’s parent company, Sharp HealthCare, and Emory Healthcare in communications roles. Ihrig completed her bachelor’s degree in communications from the College of Charleston.
