Superintendents David Miyashiro And Devin Vodicka Join the Classroom of the Future Foundation Board Of Directors

June 15, 2016 – San Diego, CA – The Classroom of the Future Foundation (CFF) announced this morning that Superintendent David Miyashiro of Cajon Valley Union School District (CVUSD) and Superintendent Devin Vodicka of Vista Unified School District (VUSD) have joined their Board of Directors.

Since 1997, CFF has engaged business, community, and educational leaders to create innovative learning environments in San Diego County schools. “We are thrilled to have these two extraordinary leaders in the education community join our Board of Directors,” said CFF Chief Executive Officer James Wright. “The commitment, passion and experience Superintendents Miyashiro and Vodicka bring to our organization will play a major role in helping give voice to the needs of students and classrooms in San Diego County.”

Dr. David Miyashiro has led CVUSD through a seamless transition into the digital age, achieving system-wide success with blended and personalized learning for all students. Earlier this year, the Association of California School Administrators, Region 18, named Dr. Miyashiro Superintendent of the Year. In addition, CVUSD was inducted by Digital Promise into the prestigious League of Innovative Schools in 2015. This distinction ranks CVUSD in the top 73 US school districts for innovation and digital learning. Prior to joining CVUSD, Dr. Miyashiro served as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for the Encinitas Union School District. Dr. Miyashiro completed his doctoral studies at the University of California Los Angeles, his Masters of Education at Grand Canyon University, and his Bachelor’s Degree at Long Beach State University.

Dr. Devin Vodicka has served as Superintendent of VUSD since July 2012. Under his leadership, VUSD has received numerous awards and recognitions. VUSD received the “Golden Bell” award from the California School Boards Association in 2013, and the district was also inducted into the League of Innovative Schools. VUSD was selected as one of four featured districts across the country at the 2015 Digital Learning Day hosted by the Alliance for Excellent Education, and Dr. Vodicka was recognized as “Superintendent of the Year” in 2015 by Pepperdine University. Prior to joining VUSD, Dr. Vodicka served as the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services at Carlsbad Unified School District. Dr. Vodicka completed both his doctoral studies and master’s degree from Pepperdine University, and he received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California Santa Cruz.
