The Early Education Programs and Services Unit provides: (1) Early intervention services to infants/toddlers with special needs birth to three years of age and their families. (2) Professional development to support quality early education programs for children birth to five. (3) Leadership in developing preschool experiences that are developmentally appropriate and designed to promote school readiness for all children. (4) Oversight to Local Child Care and Development Planning Council.

Friendship School

The Friendship School is a special education school in Imperial Beach that serves students who have multiple severe disabilities with health impairments. The school is operated by the San Diego County Office of Education, and is affiliated with the South County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).

Lindsay and Victoria community school are education programs for pregnant and parenting teens. Both are operated by SDCOE and include on-site child care.

Migrant Education

Migrant Education, Region IX, is a supplemental educational program which provides support services through collaborating with school districts and other community agencies to maximize the potential of migrant students. Working closely with parents, each district designs its own plan of services to provide the most effective program possible for students to ensure equitable opportunities and increase graduation rates.

JCCS
Dollars for Scholars

The Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS) Scholarship Foundation, popularly known as Dollars for Scholars, was created in 1986 to provide scholarships for JCCS students. Awards enable selected JCCS students and graduates to continue their education at community colleges, universities, and vocational schools. JCCS serves about 3,000 students on any given day. These “at risk” students include homeless teens, youth in foster care, and young adults with special circumstances. The Dollars for Scholars Foundation provides a way for these students to continue their education after high school.

The purpose of this partnership is to offer a school designed to meet the academic and therapeutic needs of students with mental health concerns
